MICRO-D HERMETIC CONNECTORS
Hermeticity defined "the state condition being airtight". Sophisticated military electronics enclosures experience electrical failure from ingress moisture. System engineers design enclosure withstand exposure moisture condensation using "moisture-hardened" components conformal coatings, often most practical approach install hermetically sealed electrical connectors. Glass-to-metal seals provide assurance that, over life enclosure, accumulated amount water vapor inside will exceed amount necessary form condensation. Other applications Micro-D hermetic connectors include vacuum chambers, cryogenics, enclosures filled with inert gas.
Kovar® Alloy

Micro-D Hermetic Plating Options

Micro-D TwistPin contact cannot made from materials that required hermetic contacts. Hermetic contacts made from ferrous alloys such Kovar® Alloy These alloys have spring properties. Micro-D TwistPin contact made from spring-temper beryllium copper. Micro-D socket contact cylinder does provide spring force, Micro-D hermetic connectors always receptacle connectors with socket contacts.
